Lookinmg forward to tuning into Springwatch tonight. However I am not sure whether I really like Bill Oddie or not, I kind of like and hate him at the same time. Does that make sense? Are you the same? Discuss! Great programme anyway with plenty of inspiration for people to follow suit, to go out into the great outdoors and explore.
We have blitzed our garden today and I now ache from head to toe. I can imagine right now many people shaking their heads in shame of my weakness. I bow to you dedicated gardeners out there and your very strong spines. We have planted a myriad of perennials out there, ranging from Fuschias, Lupins to errr, hmmm, various others.
Ok I am still utterly clueless, can barely tell the difference between a geranium and a bluebell but I think I am making some progress in the learning department!
Saturday 31 May: An Evening on the Heath, walk at Farnham Heath
Take an evening walk around Farnham Heath with the RSPB Reserve Manager Mike Coates, looking out for bats, moths, woodcock and nightjars. Warm clothing and a torch are advisable. Booking is essential. Phone Mike Coates on 01252 795632.
8.30 – 10.30pm. Meet at the Rural Life Centre, Reed’s Road, Farnham GU10 2DL
We are planning on going to this event, as supporters of the Heath Project. If we are able to and get a place, I shall write up a report after the event and post it here on the blog.
Its funny how one very small post I made on this blog earlier this year has sparked off quite a few comments about Red Kite sightings in Hampshire. Thing is this is quite significant and as a member of the RSPB, it is very exciting to see that these splendid birds are living what seems to be a very comfortable existence.
My interest in this particular species goes back many years.
My Brother sent me this beautiful piece of music today. Its called “Sanctus” written by Missa Luba and performed by the Muungano National Choir from Kenya. Its very relaxing and lacks any of the pretense of any modern chart music - Enjoy!
I have had a big tidy in the categories area, cutting them down to just under a dozen. Tags will be used to keyword posts in a more detailed and granular fashion. Some of the categories relate to a few long term book projects I am starting right now, that will appear in blog form initially and later edited into book form…. Lots to do, catch you next time.
