About

This has no doubt been the hardest part of the site to write. How can I describe myself and what I do?
Well - I am a photographer, writer and web developer rolled into one!
Photography
My interest in photography started when I was about 13 years old which was some time back as I am now in my thirties. My first camera was a Ricoh compact film camera and it went everywhere with me, everything was photographed, documented and later filed into numerous albums. The subjects that interested me back then still have the same impact on me today.
On the professional side of things, I have had a broad range of experience and have worked directly for a number of magazines and agencies. In 2003 I had my first taste of the Press photography world through Filmmagic (now part of Getty) when I covered a red carpet event for the show “Mama Mia” celebrating its anniversary, the original members of Abba where there plus many other celebrities. In the same year I covered the Great North Run in Newcastle and captured some great images of Paula Radcliffe winning the event and at the same time breaking the World Record. My Press interests soon became more specialised, as I started covering music events, kicking off with the “Mavericks” at Shepherds Bush Empire. Since then I have photographed The Charlatans, Green Day, Groove Armada, Zero 7, Mark Knopfler, Sugababes, Beverley Knight, Jamelia, Air, Bruce Springsteen and many more. I have also done a lot of work for UPPA/Photoshot over the years whom have now become my main agent for this side of my work.
On the quieter side of things I have now started doing more landscape and travel orientated photography in order to build up my stock library both on Alamy and my personal stock library. This comprises of numerous concurrent projects that will span the rest of my life! I am also working on a few book ideas in order to expand my photography business interests. In the meantime please take a look through the blog and the gallery sections of this site to see some archive material.
Writing
This blog is the main outlet for my writing and I aim to keep it going on a frequent basis, writing about various topics that are of interest to me and hopefully others. I have been writing for FPME magazine for a little while now, a bi-monthly subscription only publication all about freelance photography. I am hoping to write for more publications in the future. I shall soon be telling you more about some book projects I have on the go.
Developing
My academic roots don’t lie in photography, writing, photojournalism or anything like that but something quite different. I have a HND in “Software Engineering” and thats what my main trade is in, software (mainly web) development. I currently work for a company in Slough called Unified Solutions Ltd, my photography business is thus only part-time.
